1. Kodaikanal.

Kodaikanal is one of the best tourist places in Tamil Nadu. Its located in the Dindigul district.  It's set in an area of granite cliffs, forested valleys, lakes, waterfalls, and grassy hills.  At 2,000 meters above sea level, the town centers around man-made, star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake, bordered by evergreen forest.  Rowing boats can be hired and hikers and cyclists follow the 5k Lake Road path around the shore.

2. Ooty.

Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam) is a resort town in the Western Ghats mountains, in southern India's Tamil Nadu state.  Founded as a British Raj summer resort, it remains a working steam railway line.  Other reminders of its colonial past include stone Housse, a 19th-century residence, and the circa-1829 st.  Stephen's church.  Its 55-acre Government Botanical garden lies on the slopes of Doddabetta Peak.

3. Rameshwaram.

Rameshwaram is a town on pamban Island, in the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  It's known for Ramanathaswamy Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site with ornate corridors, huge sculpted pillars, and sacred water tanks.  Devotees the in the waters of Agni theertham, off the beach east o the temple.  Grandmadana parvatham is a hill with island views.  A chakra here is said to bear an imprint of Lord Rama,s feet.

The specialty of Rameshwaram:
Rameshwaram is the terminus of the railway line from Chennai and Madurai.  Together with Varanasi, it is considered to be one of the holiest places in India to Hindus, and part of the Char Dham pilgrimage.

Best time to visit Rameshwaram:
Therefore, the best time to visit Rameshwaram will be from October to April as, during this period, you will find the climate on the pleasant side.  Winters are mainly on the pleasant side in Rameshwaram as the minimum temperature usually touches nearly 17 degrees celsius during this season.

4. Kanyakumari.

Kanyakumari is a coastal town in the state of Tamil Nadu on India's southern tip.  Jutting into the Laccadive Sea, the town was known as Cape Comorin during British rule and is popular for watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean.  It's also a noted pilgrimage site thanks to its Bagvathi Amman temple, dedicated to a consort of Shiva, and it's our lady of Ransom Church, a center of Indian Catholicism.

Famous in Kanyakumari:
Kanyakumari is the southernmost point of peninsular India and the meeting point of the three oceans-the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.  Besides it importance as a Hindu pilgrim center, it is famous for its beautiful views of sunrise and sunset over the waters.

5. Jawadhu hills:

Yelagiri is a hill station in the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu.  Built-in 1964, the hilltop Velavan Temple is a colorful Murugan temple with views of the valley below.  The Jalagamparai Waterfalls crash into a swimming hole surrounded by train and picnic spots.  Nearby is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.  Close to artificial Punganur Lake, Nature Park has a garden and an aquarium, with fish and tortoise.
